Over the weekend the Holy Apostles youth group visited Sts. Cyril & Methodius Orthodox church in Hartshorne, Ok to gather information and images for the purpose of creating a website for the church. They spent the afternoon photographing the church and learning about its history before enjoying a fabulous meal at the world famous Pete’s Place italian restaurant in Krebs, Ok. They were then privileged to attend Liturgy with Father Joseph the following day.
Sts. Cyril & Methodius is Oklahoma’s oldest Orthodox church established by Carpatho Russian immigrant coal miners in the 1880’s. The historic building, rising up from the hill country near Robber’s Cave, has been left largely unaltered from its original form and possesses a wealth of history.
The youth group should have a website up in the next week or two. Until then, enjoy some of the pictures from the trip!
