Annual Meeting Goal Submissions

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Since our December annual all parish meeting is quickly approaching, the parish council would like to ask the parish for input on what our goals should be for next year (2010).

In an effort to facilitate this input, I have installed a commenting form at the bottom of this web page. Please leave goals and ideas in the comment form below.

Your in Christ,
Andrew Johnson

Its not really a goal, but I think it is VERY important. I would like to see blankets, pillows, teddy bears, etc.. forbidden from the chapel during the Pascha service. The children do not sleep on them, rather, they have themselves a slumber party there in the back.To quote another parishoner from last year regarding the children during the Pascha service, "It was like Romper Room! I couldn't hear half the service!" Not only is it disrespectful to the 200+ other parishoners who are there to worship and celebrate, I feel it is disrespectful to God for us to allow the children to behave so poorly when they are supposed to be being taught to worship. If the children MUST fall asleep, we have a perfectly suitable building the parents can take them to. Or they could just be left at home with someone else.

I do feel very passionately about the misbehavior and disruption of the children during services. Forgive me if I have overstepped my bounds or stuck my nose in where it doesn't belong.

    1. Complete the cemetery concept.

    2. Expand the Chapel to allow for growth. Incorporate a "cry room" or some type of area so that the children can be part of the regular liturgical life of the parish while not disturbing those participating in services or in prayer.

    3. Grow the parish in order to independently finance the following objectives.

    a. Reduce debt. Become a "church parish" while eliminating financial obligations to the diocese and/or financial organizations.

    b. Build a rectory on the property.

    c. Expand community facilities.

    d. Build a temple.

    Through 2010:

    1. Obtain cemetery permits and complete allotment. 2. Pave the parking area. 3. Reduce debt by 20%. 4. Finalize discussions and prepare a feasibility study for a new temple construction.

    Through 2014:

    1. Eliminate all current debt. 2. Begin new temple and a new parish hall construction subject to the current debt elimination. 3. Convert the current parish hall into a rectory upon construction of a new parish hall.
