Hieromartyr Patrick, Bishop of Prusa
Beloved in Christ,
Christ is Risen!
It is with great joy that I write to inform you that Judge Damon Cantrell has upheld the Tulsa County Board of Adjustment’s approval in our favor on the issue of our site plan and cemetery. We have waited almost two years for a decision, and the Lord has rewarded our patience and our prayers. Many of you have prayed, labored, and fasted, and contributed financially, to this cause. May God bless you for your efforts!
Sharp Mortgage Company, which had petitioned to have the decision of the Board of Adjustment overturned, has the right to appeal to the Supreme Court of the State of Oklahoma. Mr. Sharp’s lawyer has previously indicated that his client would do so. That is to say, the time for prayer and fasting is not over. Especially over the course of the coming month, in which the appeal must be made, we should all continue to ask God to bless the Sharp family and our neighbors, some of whom have opposed our site plan, and to keep us in an attitude of humility, repentance and love for Him and for them.
If, by grace, there is no appeal and the District Court’s decision stands, let us rejoice and give thanks to God. If, however, an appeal should be made so that we are called to persevere in the struggle, there are several concrete things that each of us can do. Firstly, as we fast every Friday in remembrance of the Lord’s submission to death and the grave, let us dedicate each Friday fast in prayer to this issue. Let us stand faithful, seeking the Lord’s mercy. Secondly, as many of you have already done, consider contributing to the parish’s legal fund, which has been established for this purpose. Lastly, we will celebrate a Molieben of Thanksgiving this Sunday following the Divine Liturgy, in gratitude to God for this current decision in our favor. May God continue to bless you for your faithfulness, and may He also bless our neighbors.
In the risen Christ,
Fr. Ambrose Arrington
